About the Music

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."
- Desmond Tutu

I am beyond inspired by the bravery, resiliency, and hope shown by anyone who has had the devastating experience of being diagnosed with cancer. Cancer knows no age, and has affected every family in some way or another. My family is no exception. I recently lost an uncle at the far-too-young age of 55. Not only did I lose an uncle, but his children lost a father, his wife lost a husband, my father lost a brother, and my grandmother lost a son - an unfortunate story that too many families can relate to. Despite the fact that he was facing his own mortality, and knew that his time on Earth was limited, his humor, constant positivity, and bravery gave us all hope. So much hope that his death seemed abrupt, and came as a shock to our family.

This piece is not about the darkness that surrounds cancer. It is intended to highlight the hope and positivity created by the bravery of those who fight this evil. It is meant to remind us to always find the "light" in every situation, even if that situation is surrounded by "darkness."

Hope for Tomorrow is dedicated to my uncle, Jonathan Michael Herwig, and to every other person who is currently fighting, has fought, or has left this world while battling cancer.
